Photo line
The photo line, minus the myths.
Free, no tickets, no official photographer and no tip required. Pick when you will arrive to see how the light falls on the WELCOME side.
Short answer: no ticket and no official line. Visitors queue themselves for the straight-on shot. Anyone offering to take your photo is not working for the county, and tips are voluntary.
How long is the wait? Not measured by anyone, us included. Look at the live cam before you leave your hotel.

- The back. The other face reads "Drive Carefully, Come Back Soon". When the front is in shadow, the back is the sunny side.
- Early morning. Travel guides report it as the least crowded time.
- Bring water. The median has no shade; see the best time planner for the hot months.
What others report about the wait

Quick answers
Do you need tickets or a tour?
No. Clark County says the sign stands on public property and is free for everyone to visit, and visitors may take their own photos at no cost. Tours that stop here are optional.
Is there an official photo line or photographer?
No. A posted sign at the landmark says there are no designated photographers and anyone can take photos. FOX5 reported there is no official organizer and no official photographer. The line is informal: visitors queue themselves for the straight-on shot.
Do you have to tip the people taking photos?
No. Clark County: there is no requirement or expectation to tip anyone. The posted sign also says no vendors at the landmark are licensed. One visitor told FOX5 she paid because she thought someone was organizing the line; nobody is.
What if someone is pushy?
From October 2026 the county is showing this message on Strip marquees: tips are voluntary, and if you feel harassed, look for a nearby officer or call 911. Commissioner Michael Naft asked for more police and business license patrols at the sign.
What are the hours?
There are no set hours: the sign is free and open 24/7, and a live webcam pointed at it often shows people queueing for their turn.
How big is the parking lot?
33 spaces in the median: 12 opened in December 2008 and 21 more in April 2015, plus bus and limousine loading. Enter from the southbound lanes only.
How long is the line at the Las Vegas Sign?
Nobody publishes a measured wait, and we do not measure it. The line is informal and changes minute to minute. Check the live webcam before you go; a travel blog reports 5 to 20 minutes for the centered photo, and side-angle photos need no line.
